Comunque Braley non mi era dispiaciuto come ritmo dato quando è entrato. Vediamo se Keatley riesce a fare bene da primo centro, devo dire che come soluzione non mi dispiace, col sudafricano che magari riesce a dare quel qualcosa di diverso a 10.

Secondo me lo sposta apertura nel secondo tempo per il finale di gara, tornando all'assetto normale. Toglie Duvenage o Braley per Riera. Oppure tutt'edue e mette Petrozzi nove.

Mi riferivo a Keatley. Può darsi che Crowley si riservi di rimettere l'assetto normale e potenzialmente migliore per il finale, visto che di solito le partite sono ormai un paio d'anni che il Benetton le perde negli ultimi venti minuti.

MARCO ZANON

As with all of Italy’s new, young contenders their strengths are in positions that historically appear very un-Italian. We’re used to their key talent being largely forward based over the past 20 years - props and backrows in particular. We’re not even talking about the increasingly impressive Paolo Garbisi.

This week it was the turn of Marco Zanon, the Italian outside centre. Zanon, a player who sounds like an expensive optional extra on a 4X4 certainly added to Italy’s ability to make metres in the 13 channel and stop carriers coming through the other way. His refusal to accept a tackle in the first half was particularly noticeable and regularly sucked in extra French defenders.

This may have been France’s second team and Italy were blown away after 80 minutes, but we can now add Zanon to the list of Italian youngsters who are going to undoubtedly strengthen Italy over the next few seasons.

TRAORE SPINS TRYLINE DEFENCE

With defensive lines becoming harder to breakdown than Donald Trump’s optimism, any new innovations that help penetrate the flesh wall are a positive. Try line defence is particularly difficult to smash through, often requiring the tight five to turn into human sandpaper and repeatedly take millimetres off the task in hand.

Enter Treviso prop Cherif Traore whose neat tryline move was a revelation. Spotting a weakly defended ruck on the tryline, with only one guard, he aimed his body into the ruck, then when the defender had turned his shoulders inwards, Traore spun 360 degrees in the opposite direction and landed over the line clean as a 19 stone whistle.

Lo conoscevo solo sul campo, ma adesso penso di poter dire che Pavanello sarà (ed è già) un ottimo dirigente. Anche nelle responsabilità del suo ruolo, è bravo a non dimenticare i problemi e le necessità reali dei giocatori. Per me è fondamentale che il dirigente si ricordi sempre della propria esperienza da giocatore.
