Saluti.

Injury Update - October 1
October 1, 2006
Canterbury captain Corey Flynn suffered a high ankle strain during last night’s 27-22 win over Auckland in the Air New Zealand Cup Top Six match.
The hooker left the field during the second half.
“It’s a non-weight bearing injury, which means he has to keep off his feet, so we will wait until it settles down before performing further tests later in the week,” Canterbury doctor Tony Page explained after the team’s medical debrief this (Sunday) morning.
Flynn is unlikely to be available for the upcoming quarterfinal away to Wellington but a final decision on Casey Laulala, who suffered concussion and was also forced from the field during last night’s match, will be made later in the week.
The Canterbury centre sustained the blow making a tackle on Auckland winger Joe Rokocoko during the second half. Laulala’s situation will be reviewed once the immediate symptoms of his concussion have cleared, when he will then undergo neuropsycologocal (Impact) testing.
Only once he has passed those tests will he be declared fit to play.
Leon MacDonald also attended this morning’s medical session, but the news on him is more positive.
The All Black fullback strained his knee late in last night’s match and will be on light duties for the early part of next week as a result, although he is expected to be fit and ready for the quarterfinal clash with Wellington.
