Se guardate la fonte "originale" della notizia, noterete una certa differenza di "contenuti" e non solo di "lunghezza"....

IRB announces inclusion of women in RWC Sevens 2009

3 MAY 2006

The International Rugby Board (IRB) today announced the hosting criteria and tender process details for Rugby World Cup Sevens 2009. For the first time women will have their own Rugby World Cup Sevens, taking place alongside the men's event in the same host city.

"Rugby World Cup Sevens 2005 held in Hong Kong was the fourth RWC Sevens and its outstanding success underlined the importance of this tournament in world Rugby and the continuing global participation and support for Rugby Sevens," said International Rugby Board Chairman, Dr Syd Millar.

"A capacity 120,000 fans attended over the three competition days, while the event was broadcast to over 450 million homes, breaking all previous Rugby World Cup Sevens tournament records. Over 10 million hits were recorded on the tournament's Official website and these figures highlight the global growth in Rugby Sevens," added Dr Millar.

The 2005/06 IRB Sevens Series, which underpins Rugby World Cup Sevens, is also breaking records. The coverage of the series on television, including the IRB's weekly show Total Rugby, is experiencing significant expansion and it currently reaches upwards of 150 million homes in 135 countries through 29 broadcasters.

"To highlight the growth of Sevens, one of the of the key recommendations of the IRB Strategic Plan for Women's Rugby developed last year was the introduction of a Women's Rugby World Cup Sevens with the aim of providing an elite level of women's Sevens tournament which will raise the profile of the Women's Game on a global scale. It is the first time that there has been a major focus on the Women's Game and the introduction of an integrated tournament is not just an exciting development for Women's rugby, but also Rugby Sevens," added Dr Millar.

"The Strategic Plan for Women's Rugby is designed to increase the competitiveness and profile of Women's Rugby on a global scale through a number of high performance, management and tournament initiatives, and the introduction of an integrated Rugby World Cup Sevens tournament is a key initiative," explained IRB Council Member with responsibility for Women's Rugby Chris Le Fevre.

"The IRB believes that an integrated Rugby World Cup Sevens, allied to the ever increasing number of participating Unions and healthy attendance and broadcast figures, further re-enforce Rugby Sevens' strong case for introduction into the Olympic Games sporting programme," added Dr Millar.

Rugby World Cup Sevens 2009 will consist of 24 men's and 16 women's teams and IRB Member Unions have until May 30 to express their intention to tender for the tournament. The tender process will replicate that used for RWC 2011 with the IRB Council selecting the Host Union for Rugby World Cup Sevens 2009 at its April 2007 meeting.

E' interessante quel passaggio sottolineato in "blue".
