Help! Cerco Coach Scozzesi e Irlandesi

SCOZIA
15/9/2005 - in attività: Frank Hadden

Dicembre 2003 - Aprile 2005: Matt Williams

IRLANDA
2001 - in carica: Eddie Sullivan
1998-2001: Warren Gatland
1997-1998: Brian Ashton

Former Ireland and Ulster coach Jimmy Davidson died peacefully on Saturday after a long illness. He was 64.

Davidson was said to be a coach well ahead of his time with many of his ideas now utilised in the modern game.

He took over an average Ulster squad back in 1983 and proceeded to guide them to three successive inter-provincial Grand Slam titles.

As a flanker he won six caps for Ireland and had a three-year spell as national coach from 1987 to 1990.

Good morning,
I'm an Italian rugby writer and I'm currently helping a research intended to make a list of all the coaches of the Irish National Team. I currently have this stub:

1990-1992 Ciaran Fitzgerald

1995-1997 Murray Kidd
1997-1998 Brian Ashton
1998-2001 Warren Gatland

2005-present Frank Hadden

After this, the 1983 season was a disappointment, with only one victory, though that was at Twickenham in the last match. It was the first Calcutta Cup win since 1976 and only the second at Twickenham since the 1939-45 war. There were extenuating circumstances. Telfer had temporarily relinquished the coaching job, having been appointed the Lions coach in New Zealand the following summer.

Scots revert to old hands McGeechan and Telfer

SCOTLAND yesterday reverted to the 'tried and trusted' old hands of Lions coaches Jim Telfer and Ian McGeechan to steer them out of their current crisis with a Five Nations opener only a week away.
Telfer, who retains his post as director of rugby, will take over the role of head coach vacated by the resignation of Richie Dixon on Thursday.
Working alongside him, as he did so successfully in orchestrating the Lions' series victory over South Africa in the summer, will be McGeechan — although only in the existing capacity he is currently employed in by the SRU.

Who took on the coaching role while Jim Telfer was touring with the British & Irish Lions in 1983? When did he relinquish the job and then get it back for that Lions tour?
Thanks in advance for your attention and kind cooperation.

Gordon Brown and Alastair McHarg formed Scotland's stockroom in some twenty occasions, benefiting from their association with Bill Dickinson of Jordanhill College, Scotland's first national coach and one of the great coaches of forward play.
