PERCHE' LE RIGHE ORIZZONTALI ?

Piuttosto, ci sono parecchie squadre di calcio con maglie a righe Orizzontali (Flamengo e Celtic Glasgow ad esempio), esistono squadre di rebbi con maglie a strisce verticali?

io di maglie a strisce verticali le ho trovate solo vintage... tipo questa del rugby benevento... che però ora ha la maglia a strisce orizzontali...

In un altro sito si cita gli aggiornamenti delle regole effettuati nel 1846-47, con una frase che fa esplicito riferimento alle maglie che devono vestire i giocatori delle due squadre

nelle Grammar School inglese fu necessario per ogni studenti avere una maglia di rugby per portare durante i lezioni di rugby. Questa maglia era un tipo un po particolare, in qui era possibile rovescare la maglia, perche rovesciato diventato una maglia con una stricche. Cosi per l'insignante per possibile fare 2 suquare con lostesso maglia.

Nota: le maglie OS nel tm di bologna avevano opzionato tale soluzione per le proprie divise...scoprendo che i fornitori non prevedono più tale accessorio, sic transit gloria mundi

Let's go for some stripes...



There is no doubt that English Football-Rugby college teams, and then senior teams, adopted vertical stripes around 1850-1870, while Football-Association teams adopted vertical stripes... This is exactly the period when the two forms of football clearly moved their own way and settle their own rules... Yes, first rules of football-rugby were set in 1845, but "rugby as you know it" was only codified in 1871 (basic stuff such as the number of players !)

A French historian - Michel Pastoureau - has wrote a bunch of great books about the meaning of colours. One chapter deals with stripes, and gives very advanced explanantions of the meaning of stripes in the Society (that I wont detail now...) but just to mention that this Mr Pastoureau will give a conference next oct11 in Paris during the RWC just about stripes and colours in the rugby kit !!

I have a very simple theory about why rugby kits have horizontal stripes : because the original sports kit of rugby college was like this... and all the others have somehow copied... here is the original Rugby college rugby kit (with Skull and Crossbones... like pirates... )

A proposito di numero dei giocatori, il primo test match venne giocato tra Scozia ed Inghilterra quando il numero dei giocatori era ancora di 20 per squadra. Solo nel 1876 il numero venne ridotto a 15.
